WHAT IS O P H O R I T E ?

Google " Aluminum Ophorite" or " Magnesium Ophorite"

you get a hundred hits mostly MSDS. I cannot , though I

have diligently tried, to discover any other source that even

acknowledges that this is an actual word.

S E E -> http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Ophorite

.

Allright try here -> http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Ophorite

Now for the fun part , find a dictionary or lexicon ,

chemistry specific or other , that defines this , good luck.

Interesting. No incidence of to-, by- or make- ophorite and no "ophorite is".
Does the stuff really exist? Is it the new "red mercury", or even the new "red herring"?;)

OK, one of the nice things about working for a decent lab is a good library. I looked it up in one of the dictionaries of trade names.
"Ophorite. An ignition powder for projectiles. It consists of magnesium powder ad potassium chlorate."

If ophorite is magnesium powder + potassium chlorate, shouldnt we be happy that the experiment done by zinc, as stated in the thread 'Weird..', wasnt a success :P;)

Actually not so much cherry bombs as the "booster" or "pre-ignitor" for Thermite.
