Methylation with iodometane

Hi guys,

I saw an experiment using dimethyl sulphate as methylating agent, I know that DMS works with a Sn2 mechanism. MeI works with the same reaction mechanism. Can i substitute in the DMS with MeI without changing anything in the procedure?

What substrate? You're being to vague to get useful replies. References and procedure details are needed (expected) in new threads, outside of the beginnings subforum. Please read the guidelines and posting FAQs.
