Clarification: Differences between Moderators and Administrators
I thought it would be a good idea to start this thread as it seems like many people are not sure about what moderators are able to do and what
administrators are able to do. I get a lot of messages asking about things that I am not able to do, and I then have to refer the asker to an admin.
Moderators can...Split/move/merge/lock/prune threads
Edit other people's posts without a time limit
View the Moderator's Lounge
Receive "Reported Post" U2U messages
In addition to the above, administrators can also...Change people's usernames and titles
Grant or deny people Whimsy access
Reset passwords
Ban/unban people
Possibly other secret stuff that I don't know about
Hopefully, this will help clear things up.

Clarification: Differences between Moderators and Members
Moderators drink a bit less when logged in.
Moderators think straighter.
Moderators take a few moments to consider their responses before posting.
Members, well:
it's like Angels and Devils at War on high-speed keyboards with a whole array of supernatural presences poltergeisting random words into random places
daily.
Glad i'm not a Moderator !

The current mod Team is doing a pretty good job IMHO.
Now, if us Members could be coaxed into posting something about the Chemistry we're doing, we'd be getting somewhere.
