Ah, thanks. A decent thermometer is something I also need, then. Does your thrift store hot plate have a magnetic stirrer?

they never do!

With a care full hand, patience and a couple thermometers you can do fine with any heat source.

Hydrochloric acid can be made even from non-boiled Bat, mix it with table salt and distill.

Distill hydrochloric acid? Are you sure? Am I missing something here?

To save your precious H2SO4, you can actually synthesise some volatile acids like HCl and acetic by distillation from a mixture of the corresponding chloride or acetate salt with sodium hydrogen sulphate (NaHSO4), which is cheaper and more readily available OTC than H2SO4.

Use the procedure demonstrated by Nerd Rage.

The process NurdRage demonstrates is not distillation of hydrochloric acid. I would think that even though HCl forms an azeotrope with water the solubility at that temperature would be so low that as soon as it condensed the HCl gas would escape, and thus can not be purified (efficiently) via distillation. Is there anything wrong with my reasoning here?

Also, I have been looking on Ebay for cheap RBFs but I find there prices almost exactly the same as laboy's and I do trust laboy more. Ebay does have really cheap ground stoppers though. Can anyone vouch for specific vendors on Ebay?

Deschem

I selected Deschem, So far I am happy with the gear I received, good communication, good selection of parts.

For beakers and RBF's I'm going to give Alchemy another few tries.

http://www.alchemylabsupply.com/

First order some of the glass had bubbles, So will see if the next few orders have the same defect. They are in Toronto Canada so fast shipping.

Good communication too. Been happy with the beakers I ordered so far.
