What I have to say about Eliteforum

Uhm, well, theres not much to say. A while back when he offered the backups to the ftp I replied asking for one. We talked it over in u2u messages and I sent him 5$ and some blank cds. Several weeks go by and I have yet to get anything. I sent him a couple u2u messages but he has yet to reply to them. I've recently found out he did this to another member. So...Anyone else have anything to say ? Anyone else try to get a back up from him ? I hope this is just one big mix up but it doesnt seem so.

It is similar with me.

I believe Eliteforum is going through some personal and economical crisis, as this had happened to me not only once I know how unlogical one acts in such a situation. Says not I like this.
I only hope he will come back and NOT tell stories which insult the intellect of the listener.

For me it is more than enough when he says sorry and it is done.

It is - annoying - but there is no real damage done.

And yes I have his address.

It happened to me too. I sent my 15 dollars USD for a backup copy. To make things short, it has been over a month since he said he has sent it. I have yet to receive.

Hi Haggis and everyone!!!

:(:(Exactly the same to me!!!!!!!!!

He said he had burnt the CDs the day he received the 15 dollars I sent him and WOULD ship the package next Monday, and it's been more than a month since this and I'm still waiting. For one moment I thought the package could have lost "in route" but now I see everyone had a similar problem. After this I sent him some messages concerning the shipment of the Forum CDs and the first ones aparently reached destination although never replied, and the last ones (two weeks ago) were rejected as if the mail address would have been shut down.

I tried to enter his webpage and the same. The link was dead...

Mmmmm.......

That made me a bit angry at first. He wouldn't like me when I'm angry...!

I hope it's not what my subconscious thought, I don't want to believe this person would tarnish and made the stupid of himself on the Forum for a couple of dollars...

Well, now I think we have to be more patient and wait 'till Eliteforum appears on the Forum and gives us a little explanation.

Actually I would prefer he sends the CDs and appears in the forum, says hello and that he had some probs and done.

Explanations don´t play well in my CD-ROM.....

reply from Eliteforum

He sent me the following privately; he should soon be able to post as himself again.

Quote:
I've had my internet cut off due to me having lack of funds to be able to pay my cable internet. So hence my site being taken down, and my email no longer working.
All packages have been sent, albeit very late, and am very sorry about that. But due to for some unforeseen events, my life has been turned upside down this last month. Having just lost my dad's father due to cancer.

Granted, this is no pitiful remark to "buy" myself some time. All packages have been sent except for the person who sent me the bundle of CD's. I only received that yesterday, I have a signed copy of the delivery note that I can scan if s/he (I'm unsure of members sex) would like me to.
If the packages have not arrived within the next two weeks, I would like everyone to get back in touch with me, (via email) and I will refund them double what they have paid me for the inconvenience of it all.

I start a new job Monday (14/07/03) and should have my new internet connection installed a few weeks after that (T1 connection baby!)
The topic about me buying a new PC, that has been done, and like an idiot - I forgot to check which kind of RAM the motherboard takes. It takes DDR DIMM RAM. I've got some on order waiting for me to purchase some (512mb stick for now, will upgrade when I have more money). The motherboard can take 3GB of RAM, so we'll have some serious server power!

Just out of question, if anyone has any (256mb an up) I have a 256mb and a 64mb of standard RAM if someone would like to trade?
Just one last thing to top this post off. I swear I by no mean's tried to rip you all off.

There you have it. He says packages have been sent, so keep an eye on the mailbox.

CD´s arrived - case done.

Thanks Eliteforum - I know how these things going to happen, I had more than one wreckdown in my life. Be assured that the positive sides are far more important than such a mishap can ever be. ;)

In this sense I suggest - so the others agree - that this thread may get deleted by time as it might a wrong impression come up by the uninformed reader.

And of course if you want to tell, tell what happened to you Eliteforum. As stor and part of your life and not as excuse. :D

Done.

I truly love this board and all members - it helps me keeping up trust in civilization and the believe that man has not to be a wolf to man.
thanks to all.

How does one get this stuff, anyway?

I like some of the things I see on that list.txt I love collecting ebooks of various sorts. Chem texts in particular, I am short on. Any way to get ahold of these CD's still? Or are they some kinda well-known members only thing?

Thanks

Yes you can still get them from me if you wish, however, the FTP has grown somewhat!

Oh, great then. How do I go about this? I've seen your ftp mentioned a few times while browsing around the board the last couple of days, but not really much information on how to access it. Do I send you some blank CD's, or can I simply access it online?

In the past I would have said if you'd pay for the shipping and the CD's then I'd do you a copy for nothing, but as it is - my time is either spent earning money (be it online or actually manual labour, which by the way is a spanish waiter ;))

So, untill the FTP is online, I'm afraid all you can do is wait.

It won't be more than a month till it's up and running anyhow, so if you can wait till then, you'll have your share fill. :) just don't leech!

Alright, I'll eagerly await the ftp, then. and sure, I'll do my best not to leech, but I admit I do have a tendancy to hoard ebooks. I've got several things in my collection you guys might find interesting though, I could upload those once it's up if you like. I'll work on digging them up and sorting them out over the next month. Hopefully you won't have them all already :)
