Propylene carbonate
I was wondering if anyone knows of an OTC source or synthesis for propylene carbonate.
I've read that the alkali metals can be directly electrolyzed from solutions of the chloride in propylene carbonate, and was curious to try this
myself. It sure seems like a simpler route to the alkali metals than anything else I've read.
That said, if it works for the alkali metals, I' curious to see if it could be a valid route to other metals, like the alkaline earths and the
lanthanoids.

Urea and propylene glycol, reflux with ZnO. A way to clear the condenser of the NH4CO3 is nice... heat gun or someway of clearing the condenser by
knocking it down. Then distill.
Oh, and you mean "Propylene CARBONATE" not "Propylene CHLORIDE".

Nah. We will keep it here for posterity. But I can close it so that anyone who stumbles by here in a search will be redirected to the thread with
all of the information.
No shame. Welcome to SM. Stick around and have some fun. And thanks for a good question.
