3% H2O2 for HMTD TATP etc

I tried using household grade 3% H2O2 for making TATP, MEKP and HMTD. None of them worked. (I took the standard method for 30% H2O2 and increased the amount of peroxide by 10X).

I guess I would exepct it to fail for TATP and MEKP since H2O is produced by the reaction and all the excess H2O when using 3% H2O2 will drive equlibrium towards the products.
However the reaction for HMTD produces NH3 not H2O so the excess water should not be a problem. Furthermore production of HMTD does not require highly acidic conditions and the insolubility of the HMTD should help drive the reaction.

It is called detritus. At the bottom of the index of the various subsections of this forum. ie the /talk page, on the bottom.

But I assume if you read this post again you have already found it.;)
