First Use of CTH: Raney Nickel & Alcohol?

Is this the first (and he didn't make much of a fuss about doing it, so I doubt it) use of transfer Hydrogenation/Dueteration (with Dueterated Raney
Nickel & Dueteroethanol if you please) ?

If someone can find an earlier use of alcohol and raney-nickel that would be great, if only because people still doubt it would work NOW...
