achiral molecules and chiral crystals
Hi everyone,
I'm currently investigating the properties of achiral molecules that crystallize as chiral crystals. The problem is that it has been so far very hard
to establish a list of such compounds...
I have started with sodium chlorate and benzil (1,2-diphenylethanedione) and read about sodium bromate having similar properties (I still have to
confirm that one). After a few weeks of research I could hardly find anything new.
So I decided to ask the fellow scientists of scimad By any chance, does
anybody have heard about compound (organic or inorganic) having such properties ? Thx

If you have access to Cambridge Structural Database you may do a search for compounds that crystallize in the chiral space groups. There are not an
enormous amount of conglomerates reported in a litteratue (the current estimate is that 5-10% of the organometallics/organics can behave this way),
but quite enough to keep you busy for a very long while. There have also been some pretty good review articles published on the matter in the past few
years although I don't have my references handy at the moment (but search for conglomerates in SciFinder and you will find them in a matter of
minutes).
EDIT: Found a few references in my paper stack. Linked below:
