Cell spreaders are small lab items used for spreading cell or bacterial cultures evenly in an agar plate.
Cell spreaders are small rods/bars with one end bent in various shapes: L-shape, T-shape or triangular shaped. In L-shaped spreaders, the upward end tip is made specifically to prevent agar tearing. Cell spreaders are made of plastic or metal (stainless steel). Plastic ones are disposable, while the stainless steel ones are sterilized and reused.
Cell spreaders can be bought from lab suppliers or online.
