Olivetol

What exactly is it? Does it have a natural source?

The search engine seems to mention it only in relation to one particular synthesis and even then only mentions it in passing as if I have some sitting under my kitchen sink.

whafuk?

I dunno about this.....That first post seems legitimate.

A man asks a question about drugs, refer him elsewhere.
A man asks about bombs, refer him.
But hey. Did he mention either of those things?

no, he posted a simple chemical query.

and he posted where he should have, in beginnings. :)
--------------------------------------------
So.....You must be using one of those kiddie proofed search engines

I found this on google (with the limits turned off) pretty quick.

Olivetol

5-Pentylresorcinol; 5-Pentyl-1,3-benzenediol

C11H16O2 F.W. 180.25 CAS 500-66-3

As for it's common uses, and where exaclty it originated to get the name Olivetol.....I dunno, but I am sure that someone here does.

Good luck:cool:

Seriously now... we all know what Olivetol is mostly used for, or in relation of. I suppose I did over react however. Forgive me, it is my American settings. I suppose in other parts of the world things like this are perfectly OK/Legal.

You may get better results using Google.com or vivisimo.com for what you are looking for.

I know nothing from nothing about applications

and from what I've been reading over the past few weeks I've been a member, discussions about even possible applications is prohibited, or at least frowned upon in this forum.

please edit your responses accordingly( Yes 4s2 I mean you!)

Thanks for the leads all, I think I have found more information to wade through, I posted here because I had reached an impasse in my research and felt a little frustrated.

Though I am still lacking in the history of olivetol, I will post any good stuff I find about this laboratory reagent here at a later date.
