Test tube sizes?

I'm about to order some test tubes.

They are listed as,
TEST TUBE, GLASS, THICK WALL, RIMLESS 18X150MM

My question is, what does the 18mm refer to, inside or outside diameter and if outside, how thick is "Thick Wall".

Incase you haven't guessed, I want to know what size bungs to order.

Also, has anyone come across a list of "must haves" for a home lab. I intend to order a range of things but realised it's not so easy when I got as far as rubber bungs :o

And I did UTFSE and read the FAQ and looked at The Order of Nitrogen as suggested.

Thanks.

Take a look at the Pyrex or Kimax technical material
where all this is explained.

Would you be so kind as to point me to the bit where they state ID or OD.

As this was my first post I expected people to be a little bit more helpfull.

But, thanks anyway.

It is difficault to say what you'd need without knowing what you want to do. Here is a similar discussion from a while back - hope it helps

w.r.t. Bungs - why not try the 18mm ones anyway - if they are too big then shave them down with a scalpel or stanley knife. With test tubes or stuff you will be heating, I think the pyrex ones are best.

What are you expecting? it is difficault to know exactly what it is your after - how can someone just list everything you'll need when they don't even know what you are trying to do - your post has only been up a few hours and most people in the USA have been asleep for that time anyway. Patience?
