My understanding was that Sasha had a very cordial relationship with DEA up until the publication of the books, in fact the chief chemist for the DEA was best man at Sasha's wedding.

The grudge was the books. Or, my informant is full of shit.

It does not matter. If the books were not the problem, then the proposition that this was a government attempt to lock up the knowledge as not_important put it, falls completely flat, does it not? You say it was a personal grudge. Both of you can't be right. One has to be wrong. Or am I missing something?

Factually inaccurate. My apologies.

You speak as though you know him when you haven't even read his books. Read chapter 1 "Invasion" of TIHKAL.

Sauron gets half a karma point for being right, for not being the biggest (due to the arrival of Slimz) post whore anymore, and for quoting Eli Wallach and Tom Baker of all things.

I was reading Shulgin's papers in the primary lit. from the early 70s on. As they appeared. One Shulgin Way was a familiar address in many journals.

As I amnot particularly interested in phenethylamines or tryptamines, I have never been inclined to read those books.
