I realize that Glas Col are overpriced but you should consider protecting your flask with a poncho (unheated but insulated) or a fabric upper mantle
(heated). Unfortunately one rarely encounters these on the used market.

Yeah,
I just really got lucky when I saw it
Now I just need to make up a controller for it.
The flask cost me more then the mantle, and that was still under $100 new.

Eventually you will need a 3-neck or 4 neck and that won't be as cheap.
Controllers are all over the place on LabX etc, you just have to decide if you want a simple time proportional thing or if you want a thermocouple
controlled model so you can put a T/C into the pot and let the controller ramp up to your desired temp and stay there.
The latter type are better but cost more.
Even if you settle on the simpler controller you should put a T/C into the liquid and connect to a digital thermometer that you can read at a
distance. This way you don't have to hover over the reaction trying to read the conventional thermometer. T/Cs don't shatter, either.
