Nitration of 2,5-dimethoxyphenethylamine . HCl directly

Is it possible to do the above similar to this synthesis of 2C-B? http://about.mdma.ch/000393925.html

Just take some 2C-H.HCl throw in some 70% HNO3 in GAA?

EDIT: Oops meant pea not benzaldehyde

I think you are confused - benzaldehyde is not basic and therefore there is no benzaldehyde.HCl

Is your question whether you can directly nitrate 2C-H.HCl without going via the freebase? I'm quite sure you can, since you would form the nitrate anyway. Unless the hydrochloride is much less soluble than the nitrate.

But why would you!? 2C-N is neither very potent nor interesting. I hope you're at least talking about the amphetamine analogue...

Edit: typo

Yea I meant phenethylamine not benzaldehyde.

Just a curiosity.

EDIT: Any idea how to precipitate the 2C-N out the GAA? I tried the reaction with the same stochiometry as in PiHKAL but less GAA (6 mL for 1.1 g 2C-H.HCl) and no 2C-N precipitated out.
