multiple rod Ring Stand

This is inverted cafeteria tray, 3/8 inch bolts, large flat washers, and long "coupling nuts". The row of long nuts is stiffened by a Dexion strip. Note several alternate rod positions afforded by the extra couple nuts. You could use thread-all-over Ready Rod for your support rods.

This set-up is impossible to tip over, and complete apparatus can be carried to another table or shelf.

Great idea! It's nice to see there's more use to dinning hall trays other than riding them down slopes in winter :D

Are they chemically resistant enough tho?

Fiberglass reinforced plastic. No problem with water, ethyl and methyl alcohol, naptha, acetone, and occassional splashes of methylene chloride. Common reagents such as HNO3, HCl, H2SO4 or KOH show no reaction either. (However KOH will damage many plastics if spill is left for a long time...like days)

The essential idea here is the "bolt and long coupling nut" base allowing your favorite flat material to become a ring stand.

Thought I had invented something until a friend showed me this kit available in India:
