Help me identify a piece of equipment, please.

I bought a lot of glassware off of Facebook marketplace last week, and it came with some miscellaneous lab equipment, including this weird little black thing. From what I can find, it's an attachment for some kind of analyzing apparatus, but I have no clue what it is for exactly, or if I can use it without the other piece. Can someone identify it for me, and tell me what it does? Can I use it, and if not, is there a market to sell it?

Exactly this: https://www.turnerdesigns.com/product-page/solid-secondary-s...
From what I understand it's a spare part from some submersible sensor.

Well, thank you. I'm still not quite sure what this thing is used for, but it does explain why there was a bottle of rhodamine as well. I'll probably never use it, so maybe someone who needs a replacement sees this in their search. They can have it.
