Amidation of Fatty Acids

"MS 3A" means 3 Angstroms molecular sieves. That is from Synthesis, 2009, 160-164. It does not appear very suitable for ammonia, but at least some ammonium carboxylates easily give some moderate yield of the corresponding amide upon heating (though not with all substrates).
There are some examples of fatty acids giving good yields in the standard reaction with urea. I currently don't have the time to do a literature search for, but you can UTFSE for more info.

…there is a human touch of the cultist “believer” in every theorist that he must struggle against as being unworthy of the scientist. Some of the greatest men of science have publicly repudiated a theory which earlier they hotly defended. In this lies their scientific temper, not in the scientific defense of the theory. - Weston La Barre (Ghost Dance, 1972)
