Hydrazine from Ammonium Nitrate?


Hi, Sciencemadness,

I was interested in whether it might be possible to hydrogenate ammonium nitrate to hydrazine using a platinum or other suitable catalyst in a suitable solvent.

As far as I remember, no. Hydrogenation will convert nitrate to ammonia.
