hci gas

hi all, ive taken a close look at generating anhydrous hci gas and come across a method that makes then stores the gas in IPA, so this is a stupid question but how is the hci gas recovered to be used in reactions where a solution is gassed to precipitate crystals, instead of adding hci then evaporating

The HCl gas will be dissolved in the IPA, so instead of gassing a solution containing the compound you wish to convert to the hydrochloride salt you would instead dissolve the compound in IPA then slowly add the HCl/IPA solution to form the hydrochloride salt which will precipitate out.

A Helpful Tip: Make sure that the IPA you dissolve the HCl in and the IPA you dissolve the compound in has as little water dissolved in it as possible otherwise when you add the 2 solutions together the Hydrochloride salt will precipitate then redissolve in the water that is already in the IPA therefore reducing your yield.
