Yeah, we're all pretty weary. Perhaps even more so us old farts who grew up being able to do chemistry and
buy chemicals without any problems.
Chill. Buying drain cleaner is not a big deal. But I do always pay cash.

I've been weary of this for a long time - now I'm just numb.
I think the only thing you did stupid was to buy H2SO4 drain cleaner at 40% instead of buying Rooto drain cleaner at 96%.
