what about when using H2SO4, HNO3 and I2 dissolved by boiling, that dissolves gold (HAuI4?) extracted using diethyl ether (bottom clearer layer seems the one)

bottom layer only distilled off part in 100degree water bath, repeated twice, second time, no distillate came over.
the 2nd wash did not separate and i wonder about the safety of this one as well.

Diethyl ether would be the top layer.
