Platinum coating single layers, by overdriving


By plating in an aqueous solution, and overdriving the current, you can plate homogenous coatings.

Pretty sweet, and with some pulsing, you can build up layers

Might also explain why folks that overdrive a reaction are not getting increased activity, it's self limiting.

Thats interesting, I requested the article in "References" therefor. Do single layers or "just a handful layers" still express catalytic activity similar to usual deposits? How is the chemical resistance of such a thin coating? And most important. Can it be done on something else but an Au111 defined surface layer, like on nickel?
Other electrodeposition articles speak of iodine layers, which if I see it correctly are kind of sacrificing layers. A iodine coating might make deposition on Cu or Ni feasible methinks. But I may be completely wrong.
