Walking on non-Newtonian fluid

Earlier today, I helped a friend make a big vat of non-Newtonian fluid for kids at his dad's church to play with/walk on. We used 250lbs of corn starch and added water until the appropriate thickness. It was quite a project mixing it all up but fun in the end. I had never played with it in such large quantities and it was cool to walk over it, it was a 6x2.5 foot or so container about 8 inches deep. The kids absolutely loved it too although I think we had just as much fun.

Anyone ever done similar?

It was on the Ellen DeGeneres show too.

I believe a type of this has been made with a silicon based material, and it becomes so hard when receiving shock, that it is proposed for body armor, soft and comfy to move around, but a bullet impact hardens it.
