Tungsten experments

Hi all,

I recently was given a bunch of lanthanated tungsten rod ends. These are left over after making welding tips and I got a couple pounds of them. So far, other than grinding a few interesting cutters out of a few I haven't really come up with much of a use for them.

I have read a bit about tungsten oxide as a catalyst in some industrial processes, but nothing really struck my intrest.

Does anyone out there have any cool experements involving tungsten?

Thanks

WO3 is good for thermites.

F. de Lalande and M. Prud'homme showed that a mixture of boric oxide and sodium chloride is decomposed in a stream of dry air or oxygen at a red heat with the evolution of chlorine.
