Possibility of Ether?

I read somewhere on this site that adding sodium bisulfate soln. to ethanol can produce ether. Is this possible because don't you need concentrated sulfuric acid to do this? I tried it and a precipitate formed but there was no separate layer. If diethyl ether doesn't form, then what forms?

I have a vague impression that this was already discussed in 2 previous threads, namely 'sodium ethyl sulphate' and 'NaHSO4'.

Alles sollte so einfach wie möglich gemacht werden aber nicht einfacher.
