ISFET pH electrodes

Does anyone have experience with ISFET pH electrodes? Are they completely maintenance free except for calibration? If they are, I'd like to get one for my chlorate cell.

They're pretty expensive, so I'd like to know how long they'll last in a continuous monitoring setup.

Also how does it distinguish hydrogen ions from other ions? It seems any positively charged ion could attract electrons into the channel and make it conductive?
