What is this thing made of?

just 2 simple questions:
-what is this thing made of¿

Cant answer your questions.
But to check the resistance, just cut off a small piece and put it in acetone, wait a few days and then check if there are signs of decomposition.

Your tubing says CellFast on it, doing a quick internet search found an eBay auction for CellFast tubing although in the details it only says that it
is polyvinyl (chloride, acetate, etc is unknown but since it holds up to water it could not be the acetate, probably just chloride) and that it is
food safe (which is what the little icon showing the fork reveals on the tubing itself). If it is PVC it is unfortunately not resistant to acetone.
Also, am I reading it correctly that the tubing was manufactured 3/15/83?

E-bay? Didn't even look there. I live (and bought it) in central Europe.
I'll try aluminium or brass. I'm trying to make simple acetone distillation aparatus for chlorate extraction. (It's boiling point is little over 50C,
so nearly any plastic is OK for that)

It's made out of Purest Pipe Plastic.
Honestly, how do you expect to get a chemical analysis of some random plastic pipe by posting a blurry photo on an internet forum ?
I've used something that looks similar for Water and it survived it very well.
Same looking stuff survived HCl and also Chlorine for 1 run only.
Your mileage may vary.

Bromic is likely correct it is PVC tubing. With organic solvents and heat it will get hard, brittle, then develops cracks spewing (in your case) hot
acetone vapors out.

Really huge response for just a simple question...
Anyway, aluminium and brass should resits acetone very well (it won't even scratch them), and are easily available to me. (actually in the same
hardware store).
Is there a way to close thistopic, so that no more people would waste their time answering my not-so-smart questions?
