Using the form factors of compact devices currently available, often feels like
trying to adapt to toddler sized kindergarden desks and chairs. This is a very
elegant approach to solving the ergonomic shortcomings of current portable
computing appliances. Combined with a miniaturized VGA projector and a fast
wireless connection to remortely access your own PC wherever it happens to
be based, this scheme makes the current model of carrying a notebook or
laptop a dated concept soon to be supplanted. Envision a keychain attachment
something like a UFD ( USB flash memory thumb drive ) or DOK ( Disk On Key ),
you could then work wherever theres a tabletop against a white wall or just
tack up a sheet of paper for a screen. I know glasses that project the image
of a screen directly onto the visual field are available and this may actually
become a strong contender.

geek prices this at 179.99 ( upper right hand of page in very small print )
and is available right now.
Mind you that this only projects a keyboard facsimile, the
head up display or view screen you would have to somehow
rig yourself. The true pc on a keychain is almost but not quite
ready for prime time as they say. I just thought to appraise
everyone of what is yet just a couple of years off.

I would certainly not buy this, at least for desktop computer. Good keyboard are so hard to find, does anybody remember the IBM M keyboard, the grey
and white one who were making a nice click and everything. When you get use to keyboard you end up making the difference on every keyboard except your
own. I would prolly go for http://www.daskeyboard.com/ instead, mechanical keyboard work better IMHO.

If the emphasis is portability it can't be beat , assuming it is relatively bug free.
Alternatives I've seen are folding keyboards , and also full sized keyboards which
house a cpu and hard disk. But what's the point if that's dimensionally just like
a laptop or notebook.
Blind Angel if you really can't see I fully appreciate your point. I know portable
braille devices that transcribe written text have been around awhile. It seems
to me that if you are a touch typist that perhaps a mat something like a mouse
pad with a touch sensitive key layout would be just right for you.

Of course this is not applicable universally since it requires a Z axis
component besides X and Y in the image data. I recall similar earlier
attempts done many years ago in monochrome using a common
analog oscilloscope as a rastered view screen.

So here is what I'm leading to :
We see that already technology has progressed to the point where eyeglasses
are no longer required in order to produce the illusion of depth in a view screen.
The program developed by Carnegie Mellon which provides perspective from
2 dimensional images can realistically endow existing motion pictures and
television with the necessary Z - axis component.
This. combined with the head tracking concept cleverly executed by John Lee ,
that gives a true variable perspective , enables one to experience a true holo-
graphic display without a hologram. Even the infrared emitters of the Wii Fi
device can be eliminated by just using a webcam with face tracking software

Of course this holographic effect will still be limited to one individual per
display or view screen. For multiple users to individually experience variable
perspective would still require a hologram.
