Does Reimer-Tiemann reaction only work for phenols?


I think the Reimer-Tiemann reaction proceeds by an electrophilic addition of dichlorocarbene to an activated aromatic ring (like phenols), so the question is would it work with other activated rings like toluene or xylene? If not, why?

Sorry for necromancing this thread, but could the reaction be done on acetaminophen? I can't seem to find the expected product listed anywhere.
