I really enjoy this thread. SM mostly stays away from "pharma type" chemicals and there's good reason for that. However, your effort of cataloging the various neurochemicals that plants and fungi naturally make is appreciated.

My favorite of your list so far is Hodgkinsine. I'd take a guess that it would replace kratom if kratom is fully illegal and scheduled.

Thank you that's great to hear.
akuamma is normally used as the replacement of kratom In places where it is illegal it is very similar herb that is from Africa unlike Kratom which is from Asia. They are very similar in that they are both partial opioids.
I put a lot of effort in this thread I was frustrated that there is so little research being done on these plants due to synthetic equivalent compounds already existing but now researches are discovering that there are better and safer alternatives from nature
So little information is found about many of the herbs I think it has to do with cost if a pharma company need to make a compound it is made syntheticly rather than extracted
Here is the research on kratom compounds and why a future synthetic partial opioid based on the structure kratom is being considered.
(Synthetic because a plant can't be patented)

Hodgkinsine is unfortunately hard to find a lot of information about.

I have almost two kilos of akuamma(I even got a fresh fruit directly from a German farmer in Ghana but sadly the seeds haven't germinated without going through an elephants digestive system) but I have to say, its not a replacement for kratom.
It is pretty good against pain and cold and the flu, and thats really where its strength is, but it is not an euphoric opioid in the same manner as kratom.

well it has more to do with variation in dosage and potency, it is difficult to get a accurate clinical does with a plant as nature feels no need to abide by our dosing measures, one way to compensate is to make large batch, titrate the dose, then use that batch at established dose.

Then be sure to prepare the next batch and do the same in advance befor the first runs out, with purified extracts that been concentrated this extra labor and testing becomes irrelevant as you know the exact amount of compound per dose.

and by just making the compound you skip the rest of the cultivation step and then extraction steps.

Good knowledge to have indeed as humans seem to be getting dumber as a whole I'd prefer to take care of my own medical needs and any system that says I can't will get helpful suggestions of where I will place my boot!

I think this was interesting and it is related to neuro chemistry

Neurochemical effects on the body

Opioid
Pain relief
Diarrhea relief
Appetite suppressant
Supposingly Cough relief
Can cause nausea
Overdose
Shortness of breath
--------------
Serotonin
Pain relief
Dry mouth
Cause weight loss
Laxative
Excessive Yawning
--improves mood

Overdose
Shortness of breath (serotonin syndrome)

Blocking serotonin
Increases body temperature
induce sleep
Antiemetic
Gains weight
---------------
Dopamine
Wakefulness promoting
Decreased appetite
Treats Parkinson’s disease
Treats hyperprolactinemia
restless legs syndrome relief
Raises sex drive
Can cause neasea
--motivation
--concentration

Blocking dopamine
induce sleep
Antiemetic
--------------

Norephedrine
Dry mouth
Bronchodilation
increases heart rate and force
constricts blood vessels
treating septic shock
Raise of adrenaline blocks histamine production
--motivation

Blocking Norephedrine
induce sleep
------
GABA
antiemetics
Pain relief
induce sleep
Lowers heart rate and force
--slows down thinking
--------
Acetylcholine
Laxative
Increases salivation
Excessive Yawning
Responsible for rest and aids digestion
contracts smooth muscles, dilates blood vessels, increases bodily secretions, and slows heart rate

Anticholinergics
Causes dry mouth
antiemetics
Bronchodilation
anticholinergics can reduce the acetylcholine-induced inflammatory response
--memory
-------

Histamine
Premotes wakefulness
Vasodilation and lowers blood pressure
Affects mucus membrane
Gastric acid release
Body temperature
Endocrine
Pain

Antihistamine
Antiemetic
Used as an antiacid (decreases production of stomach acid)
Promotes sleep
Causes weight gain(lowers thermogenesis)
antihistamine that can affect urination. It does so not by affecting the prostate, but by reducing the bladder's ability to contract.
------
Cannabinoids
Pain relief
antiemetics
Premotes sleep
--------
Other receptors

Adenosine
Treats supraventricular tachycardia
anti-inflammatory or immunosuppressive

tachykinin receptor
NK-1 antagonists boost the efficacy of 5-HT3 antagonists
-----------

bronchodilating drugs are β2("beta two")-adrenergic agonists (short- and long-acting), anticholinergics (short- and long-acting), and theophylline (long-acting).
----------
Relation to other neuroreceptors

--Raising serotonin decreases production of dopamine.

--blocking histamine can also block Acetylcholine production

--Acetylcholine can increase dopamine levels

--Histamine causes an increase in glutamate release
NMDA receptor (Glutamate) antagonists increase the serotonin levels in the brain

-- The dopamine-releasing effect of glutamate is mediated by AMPA (rather than NMDA) receptors.

---- Rasing Norephedrine decreases production of histamine
The body cannot handle large amounts of histamine. As a result, the body will counter-act histamine by producing Epinephrine (adrenaline) which helps to de-activate histamine. Sometimes high levels of adrenaline can result in unwanted anxiety and panic attacks.
------------
Agonst vs antagonist
Antagonist increase a receptors production making more of them agonist decrease a receptors production.
An agonist can be twice as strong if an antagonist is used first
Allowing the agonist to have more receptors for the agonist to bind too. This is used in pain clinics to lower dosage and tolerance in the patient.

Antagonist can also the block the action of an agonist from binding

Reuptake inhibitors can block an agonist because the Neurochemical is in the way for the agonist to bind to it.

This video shows alot of about Neurochemical
https://youtu.be/S-NukJp_Nbs
------
Nicotinic acetylcholine receptors can be blocked by curare, hexamethonium and toxins present in the venoms of snakes and shellfishes, like α-bungarotoxin

---------
==================
A bit of topic
The connection between the body and brain actually go both ways

Psychological states

Psychogenic illness/Conversion disorder

Symptoms
Numbness, weakness, paralysis, seizures, tremor, fainting, impaired hearing, swallowing and vision.

Impaired coordination or balance
Weakness/paralysis of a limb or the entire body (hysterical paralysis or motor conversion disorders)
Impairment or loss of speech (hysterical aphonia)
Difficulty swallowing (dysphagia) or a sensation of a lump in the throat
Urinary retention
Psychogenic non-epileptic seizures or convulsions
Persistent dystonia
Tremor, myoclonus or other movement disorders
Gait problems (astasia-abasia)
Loss of consciousness (fainting)
Sensory symptoms or deficits:

Impaired vision (hysterical blindness), double vision
Impaired hearing (deafness)
Loss or disturbance of touch or pain sensation
--------------

physical symptoms of depression
-Psychogenic pain - common in severe depression a physical sensation of pain originating from the depression.

physical symptoms of anxiety

-psychogenic amnesia - memory loss due to anxiety

-Psychogenic heart attack - originate from the extreme form of a panic attack
psychogenic seizure - originate from the extreme form of a panic attack
-Psychogenic tremor - originate from the extreme form of a panic attack

This is absolutetly impressive. I would like to learn more about the methods you use for extraction, preservation and handling of your plant materials. I am extremely interested in this subject because we are restoring an old citrus orchard in the tropics and the array of diversity is incredible, more so when you consider that even the tiniest weed can rid you of worms or contain otherwise interesting components.

I try to keep things sterile I've havnt done any extraction of pure compounds been too busy. I've just made solution of the herb by using an ultrasonic bath and some everclear
I have a small 30W dehumidifier and try to save the silica gel packs I try to keep a sterile environment. Mold is aggressive in humid environments. I found that alot of this information was scattered around so I tried to compile it from scientific papers which paywalls are a real pain.
