Na-DCCA for Chlorobenzene

DFliyerz - 30-11-2015 at 09:17

I saw a preparation of chlorobenzene using TCCA and 50% sulfuric acid in the documentation for the preparation of pentryl; would I be correct in assuming that Na-DCCA would work if the amounts were compensated?

You will probably need to use more sulphuric acid and less water to compensate for the tendency of the sodium salt to neutralise part of the acid. Plus 50% more Na-DCCA (molar terms) than TCCA. Let us know how you get on please. :)
