GeoCities will close later this year.
After I logged into one of my geocities websites, I found this information. Does anyone here have any suggestions for other free hosting services?
With geocities, you didn't have to log in every so often to keep them from deleting your website. Is there any place else like this?

Will something happen to my GeoCities Free or Plus account?

I have a GeoCities email address. Will I get to keep it when GeoCities closes?
Yes. Some of our earliest GeoCities customers took advantage of GeoCities email addresses, like you@geocities.com. Those email addresses will not
change with the closure later this year.

First thing to do would be to archive the site and find a new host, whilst placing a redirector on the current site to ensure any visitors know where
the site goes after it's shut down.
I'm in the process of building a new website at the moment to host piles of information on underground related topics. I can't afford hosting and even
if I could it'd be pointless since it'd only be a matter of time before I could say goodbye to my hard work when they shut it down because it breaches
their T&C.
I'd opt for First Free Hosting, which can be found at www.1stfreehosting.com/. They provide a fairly good service although I've had issues updating my pages. If you don't want to expand but want to
keep your site online I'd use them.
There's another alternative too. Piczo.Com provide a free website service complete with a built in designer, which means no paying for expensive web
design software like Dreamweaver or Frontpage. They also support the ability to put your own HTML in.
However Piczo is slightly unprofessional looking. Also tehy don't care about when you log in either.
I hope that helps.

If you have a Mac and don't expect to overload your IP bandwidth you can run a web page from your own computer. You don't even need to have a
monitor, and the computer can be an old used one. Obviously this can be done with any computer, but the software and the hard work is already done
for you on a Mac with OS 10. Maybe somebody with a Windows OS can offer a link to how it can be done.

This is probably suitable for sites that don't expect a lot of traffic. I use a Static IP with mine, but a Dynamic IP, which is cheaper and more
common can be used by getting a free name from a site such as DynDNS.com
It's amazingly easy to update pages or files on your own computer.
