Santa's gift arrived safe and sound in 3 January. I was lucky enough to find the envelope still dry in the mailbox amidst the rainy season (apparently
we have one such season now). I wanted to sort out my own issues before reporting the arrival.
And the issues were sorted out, of course! I finally managed to buy a gift and it will reach my Santee next week. It may get to see some use pretty
soon, if we're to judge by how the weather is going there. My apologies for the lateness.
I wanted to send some local foodstuff but international postal regulations wouldn't permit it. Our Postal "let-us-see-how-fragile-it-is" Service would
also find a way to mangle it beyond recognition before it reached customs, that occasionally happens here; or worse, they'd eat it, that also
occasionally happens here.
One more thing. I found out why eBay wouldn't accept my card: it is a national card. Sometimes the obvious slips by unnoticed, specially when the
letters are so tiny.

My gift arrived a while ago, and I regret not saying anything earlier, but I want to thank my Santa for a wonderful gift! I received a bunch of very
unique mineral samples, clearly from a collection that took a while to amass, and each sample was labeled with its origin. Very interesting! My family
had a fun time going through all of the samples and their origin together. It's amazing what variety of minerals the earth can produce - I think I
read at the Museum of Natural History that the Earth is expected to have a far greater variety of minerals than any other known place in the universe,
thanks to the combination of biological processes, geological processes, and the action of water.
Really fascinating to see all of it, and thanks for sharing a little bit of your collection!

As @MadHatter has kickstarted this year's Secret Santa (https://www.sciencemadness.org/whisper/viewthread.php?tid=16...), I suppose we can consider the previous year's pretty much finished.
Santa was too kind to send me a card and two gifts. The first one is a dozen or so guitar picks, three or four types of them; given that my guitar
practice is rather irregular these days, the survivors will probably last forever.
The second one I haven't had yet the pleasure of seeing. Our Postal Service has, as far as I know, lost it. They are known to be careless, sometimes
purposefully (throwing boxes around like beach balls, as you can watch on YouTube), but this year they have been through some difficulties, including
land transportation issues, so it is either lost or very, very late on schedule.
I sent a gift (I'm terrible at choosing things for others, I hope it has been useful), it arrived safely and all. I knew there was something missing
and, at the beginning of February, to my deep chagrin, I perceived that I didn't send the Christmas card. Talk about shame! Better sending late than
not a all, so why not send it in time for next Christmas?

Unfortunately, my Santa bailed at the last minute, so I didn't receive anything. But my recipient seemed to like his gift, so I'm still happy with
that. It's better to give, than to receive anyway! I'm already excited for this year's Secret Santa!
