Need help with a thionyl chloride reaction

can someone help with to calculate how much thionyl chloride do I need to react 2(dimethylamino)ethyl benzilate hcl (replace the OH with a Cl)
Is it just to mixing it with stirring, do I need to extract? I only find a description in a german pdf i cannot read.

B.t.w are the two chemical below the same?

Diphenylchloro- acetic acid 2-(dimethylamino)-ethyl ester hcl

α-chlorodiphenylacetic acid (β-dimethylaminoethyl) ester hcl
