Demo with chromyl chloride
I made some chromyl chloride. It is a beautiful and very interesting (but unfortunately also carcinogenic) compound. It has a very nice reaction with
a slightly acidified 0.1% solution of H2O2. Check out the following link and especially the last video most of you certainly will like.

The nice thing is that this experiment does not require any exotic chemicals, yet is rather surprising.

Ah, with vapor...nice.
Yeah, that complex is fricking dark...it's amazing how it looks almost black at merely mild concentration!

Nice set of photos.
While not nearly as easy to prepare, canadyl trichloride has some similarities. It's not as strong an oxidiser, forming esters with alcohols and being
purified by refluxing it over molten sodium.
