CuCO3+KNO3- does it make copper nitrate?
I make copper nitrate using Ammonium Nitrate and Copper Carbonate. Will the above method also work?

No, it will not. Basic copper carbonate, Cu2(OH)2CO3, will not react with a
solution of potassium nitrate, the equilibrium is unfavorable. The only reason that the reaction with ammonium nitrate works is that a competing
reaction, namely the decomposition of ammonium carbonate, is largely irreversible, thus the equilibrium is shifted towards favoring copper nitrate.

NH4NO3 (NH4(+) in fact) is mildly acidic...
As such it favors the formation of gaseous volatile ammonia and H2CO3 (H2O + CO2)...
Many equilibrii at work...
Cu(OH)2 <==--> Cu(2+) + 2 OH(-)
CuCO3 <==--> Cu(2+) + CO3(2-)
NH4NO3 ---> NH4(+) + NO3(-)
NH4(+) + OH(-) <==--> NH3(g) + H2O
2 NH4(+) + CO3(2-) <--> 2 NH3(g) + H2O + CO2(g)
4 NH3 + Cu(2+) <--==> Cu(NH3)4(2+)
Cu(2+) + 2 NO3(-) <--> Cu(NO3)2
Cu(NH3)4(2+) + 2 NO3(-) <--> Cu(NH3)4(NO3)2
Cu(NH3)4(NO3)2 <==--> Cu(NO3)2 + 4 NH3(g)
