What about a U tube with side take offs each end? Put the gas in say the top left side (via a bung with hole) and the left side arm part.
Then stopper right hand side top and take the product from the right side take off.........Ok sounded better in my head sorry.

That's a U tube. It would not be efficient since tube diameter is typically 1 cm.
It is better to have a large chamber of some sort.
