Blast Shield
I looked around and didn't see an obvious thread for this so here goes.
I'm wondering about making a simple blast shield for working on small to moderate size energetics projects. Say for example <1 gram ETN, or
equivalent.
This would be in the form of a panel, maybe 18" wide by 30" tall, mounted securely on a heavy base, on my work bench top. This is wide enough to
provide protection to my body but narrow enough that I can have my arms on either side and work comfortably. This shield would be complemented by ear
protection, safety glasses and leather/kevlar gloves for the exposed hands. I'm wondering about using the less expensive polycarbonate materials, but
going for a beefy thickness, maybe 3/4". I could use something like Lexgard, but it is pretty expensive for other than a small piece. Are such
shields in use by amateur experimenters?
