Phosphor the easy way
I ve found this patent from 1892 about the easy way to manufacture Phosphor. The patent says that Metaphosphoric acid or its sodium salt can simply at
low red glowing heat be readuced with aluminium in every form or zinc dust. It can be done in an reaganz tube with an alcohol lamp or an bunsen
burner. If this works thats an Phosphor cheat.
P.s i think you need an good fume hood because he writes when the aluminium touches the (molten) Metaphosphoric acid the metall desolves imidataly and
phosphoric vapors are released.
Patent in german.

The problem is, what kind of vessel will you use to heat up the acid? Glass is attacked by metaphosophoric acid, and so is metal of course, unless you
use, as the patent suggests, salts instead of acid?

i see the problem when mixing. If it release imidataly the phosphor and how to seal it fast enough. but in theorie its an good methode because of low
heat. i think an copper vesel would work.

Maybe? You could probably use a copper vessel with a single hole and fit a Claysen adapter into it, much like what NileRed shows in his benzene video
(q.v.). You connect one of the branches to a 'powder' dropping funnel for zinc or aluminium powder (if you use dust, I’m sure you can use a standard
funnel), and the other one to a condenser. Flush the apparatus under argon/nitrogen before beginning to heat seems to me a good precaution to avoid
the phosphorus vapours igniting right away.
These old patents are a source of unquenchable knowledge (es scheint mir schwer, dieser Satz auf Deutsch zu übersetzen).
