Glutaric Anhydride Purification


hi, im looking an easy way to purifiy the Glut. Anhydride. because i always have the mixture of the acid and the anhydride. and i need it for a quick reaction..

That sounds interesting. Could you post a link to the prep, please.

Your problem looks like pretty standard workup. I would suggest disolving everything in dichloromethane and extracting the free acid into aqueous sodium bicarbonate. Then dry and evaporate the DCM.

Um .. reflux with excess acetic anhydride, then fractionate - AcOH @ 118 C, (AcO)2O @ 140 C, glutaric anhydride @ 288 C. Recrystallise from solution in hot ether, if there's only a small percent of the acid in the anhydride to start with, just do the recrystallisation.
