Site Protocals

I am helping a retiring materials scientist sell a locker full of accumulated lab ware and equipment. As part of that effort, I have found Sciencemadness.

There was a recent posting from a User who was clearly in need of a piece of equipment that I have.

My question is: Is it inappropriate to contact that User in this forum for the purpose of making a sale?

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

If they've articulated any sort of desire for what you have, then it's fine by me. You might want to list what you have available here, too.

If you have it and he needs it why not just send him a U2U?

I'll do that, thanks to both of you.

I have cataloged most of what is in the locker that is not destined for the scrap yard. I have separated the contents into several categories and assembled spreadsheets and slide shows according to category. Categories and slide show links are listed below.

lab ware http://picasaweb.google.com/cmossy/LabWare?authkey=Gv1sRgCKy...
Pumps http://picasaweb.google.com/cmossy/LabPumps?authkey=Gv1sRgCN...
Pressure Regulators and Valves http://picasaweb.google.com/cmossy/PressureRegulatorsGauges?...
Heaters and Ovens http://picasaweb.google.com/cmossy/Heater?authkey=Gv1sRgCIaN...
Motors and Motor Regulators http://picasaweb.google.com/cmossy/MotorsAndMotorRegulators?...
Vessels and Kettles http://picasaweb.google.com/cmossy/ASTMware?authkey=Gv1sRgCM...
Fixed Volume Pipettes http://picasaweb.google.com/cmossy/PipetteFixedVolume?authke...
Thermocouples http://picasaweb.google.com/cmossy/Thermocouples?authkey=Gv1...

The spread sheets contain information and details (make, model, size ) as appropriate for most of the items in the slide shows. Please get in touch if you are interested. Everything here is FOB Dayton, Ohio.

That's an impressive selection. I would potentially be interested in a variety of these items (graduated cylinders, heating mantles and graphite at the very least, maybe others depending on price). What timetable are you selling them in and how are you pricing them? Should I PM you with more specifics on which items I'm interested in?

In the absence of an offer, I suggest you send to me your itemized choices, tagging them with the last four digits of the photo associated with each. Once the list is complete, I"ll talk it over with Joe (the retiree) then get back to you with a proposal. We should be able to get back with pricing within a day or two.

We don't have a timetable but do want to stop renting the storage locker.

Curious as to what you are asking for DSC03903.JPG and/or DSC03646.JPG?

I'm very interested in several items, in fact, consider them sold to me for the right price. That is, any of your platinum thermocouple wire (i.e. Type S, R, B). I see one item that I want, and I will pay very competitively for it!

I'll also buy the vacuum seal flanges if they're indium.

EDIT: actually, I'll just give you my number. Going through it, I see many, many things I want.

Neither flask nor beaker.

Are you doing UHV work Fleaker? I'm just wondering since you ask after the indium and am interested in people doing that at home; fear not, being in the UK and needing money for other things, I don't plan on trying to out do you on any of it.

Some of those regulators look like they may be Nickel plated, which may mean they are corrosion resistant. If one of them was Monel, that'd be a keeper right there. :D

I like the size of the high pressure filter carrier on the back of the shelf.

I bet the guy selling all this would be interesting to talk to, he was clearly working to a higher than 'bag it, goo it, bake it' standard.

I too would love any indium,
the crucibles in DSC03701,
the 50ML round flasks DSC03841

Also:
What diameter is the thread in picture DSC03903.jpg? I'd be interested in some.
What are the dimensions of the graphite tubes in picture DSC03459? Might be interested :)
