Chromium nitrate from Cr2O3 + HNO3?
I need some Chromium nitrate to create copper chromite using a sol-gel process.
Its seems to be expensive to buy. Can I make chromium nitrate by disolving chromium oxide in 70% HNO3?
If so, do I simply dry the resulting solution and wash?

Probably not unless your oxide is freshly precipitated. I have a flask containing pottery grade oxide in sulphuric acid. After months none has
dissolved judging by the colour. Apparently you have to digest it in molten alkali first. Do a search you will find a detailed procedure.
I am wg48 but not on my usual pc hence the temp handle.

A little more research says Chromium Nitrate can be produced from Chromium Trioxide, CrO3, and nitric acid. I haven't found any CrO3 that is cheaper
than Chromium Nitrate...
So I guess I will just open my wallet....
