Efficient low tech way to distinguish isomers


what are some ways in which you can distinguish isomers of two molecules that have the same molecular formula.

I can do TLC, but this al requires available analytical standard...

NMR would solve the problem, but obviously that's not a option for me.

Any insights would help.

Melting point or boiling point. Assuming you’re referring to regioisomers or diastereomers, and not enantiomers, as those would only be differentiable by polarimetry.

That would depend on what kind of isomers you have.

If you want to distinguish the four isomers of butanol, you can see what they oxidize to- two will oxidize to carboxylic acids, one to a ketone, and the other one won't.

If you want to distinguish the three nitrophenols, look at mps.

If you want to distinguish the various isomers of C5H10Cl2, you're SOL.
