extra instrumentation time at school

Bonus to drool over! We now have available to us a 60MHz NMR, and the access to use it on Friday mornings.

I thought I'd bring in a sample of chloroform post-wash but pre-distillation to see how it looks.

As to why I have chloroform that warrants testing, if you must know- I have a structure circa 1960 with untreated old-growth lumber bearing directly on concrete. I want to inhibit rot and insects without messing with _really_ nasty stuff so I'm preparing a copper sulfate solution but I needed some appropriate bottles to keep it in, so I bought the cheapest bleach I could find. I had no need for the bleach, but I had some acetone on hand and I was bored...

And yes, I know the copper sulfate is terrible for concrete, so I plan to mix it with borax in situ to keep it in the wood.
