Catalytic Converter

I am going to be scraping a car soon and I wanted to know if it is worth saving the catalytic converter out of it ; for experiments.

I'm not really sure for what though but I may have some use for it down the road (pun intended).

Some converters use pellets like this
I was thinking these could be put inside of a drying tube to convert gases or vapors.

Just an idea; what do you think ?

My converter was sort of a honeycomb structure; I'm sure you could use it as a catalyst but I just use a few small broken chunks as boiling chips as the surface area is high.
