youtube TATP synth reported

Today i reported a TATP synth on youtube i saw, i felt like such information presented so easily might be harmful in the wrong hands...
Then for a moment reflecting on my youth i felt somewhat hypocritical.

As a fan of the growing youtube home chemistry community i ask:
Where do you draw the line?

If the information given is risky/dangerous, I would have reported it to.

Wikipedia tells how to synthesize TCAP. I feel it is common knowlage among those who wish to know. If I saw a video of someone makng or using large amounts of such a suicidal primary, then I would be more concerned, as it may premote careless handling of such an unpredictable compound. Animal cruelty I absolutely would report.

I draw the line at k3wlism. If the video itself or the majority of comments are k3wlish, I would suggest it be taken down as a safety precaution. If it's science-oriented, though, I think it should stay.

i draw the line at misinformation
'the villian or the bullet'
i say the person doing wrong things with the bullet should be judged rather than the bullet (in this case, the video, the instructions)

once talked to a guy who decided to first time ever make 100g of the thing
he already had it laying in one huge pile drying in the oven before he even read through the entire thing or watched entire video..
he didnt neutralize it
dont ask me how he managed to dry it in oven without it being very well neutralized, luck i guess??

just to jump out into making explosives out of nowhere and then make 100g as the first amount to ever handle... sigh..

~25 drops = 1mL @dH2O viscocity - STP
Truth is ever growing - but without context theres barely any such.

i agree with Antiswat...the video is not the criminal, knowledge should be availlable to whomevere seek it what we do with it is our problem however, evil intent and ignorance lead to punishment.

scienceoriented videos are fine but where du you draw the line between k3wls and nerds? i think it depands who is watching it and what will they do with the information

Strange choice to report that video. Did it encourage violence? By it being gone will it prevent people from learning to make TATP? Probably not. Can't say I've ever reported a video on YouTube. Then again there are some things you just do not share, like my dirt-easy synthesis of dimethylmercury.

Mainly I mind my own business, and don't report on such affairs. Now, if this was also a harm reduction forum, dropping dime might be more import. My intuition tells me it's the same attention seekers who post, over and over.

Only report TATP synth if it is being performed in an unsafe manner, in large quantities, or does not give a preemptive warning.

Acetone peroxide is fine in milligram quantities with proper safety gear, however multigram amounts of any primary should be reported immediately.
