Help with Atomic Orbital Problem




1) The atomic orbitals of metals overlap in the solid to form molecular orbitals that explain why metals are such good conductors of electricity. If we consider only the valence shell S and P orbitals of strontium, how many orbitals will be formed from 5,000 strontium atoms?

How many of these would be filled?

Rate of Consumption and Appearance


Please help with this problem.

Given the hypothetical reaction where A and B react to form C and D, if the rate of consumption of A is 0.086 M/min what is the rate of appearance of C and D?

2 A + 2 B → 4 C + 3 D

Rate of Consumption of B=
Rate of Appearance of C=
Rate of Appearance of D=

ok im reposting it because apparently I have to show my work. Obviously I attempted the problem.

Given the hypothetical reaction where A and B react to form C and D, if the rate of consumption of A is 0.086 M/min what is the rate of appearance of C and D?

2 A + 2 B → 4 C + 3 D

Rate of Consumption of B=
Rate of Appearance of C=
Rate of Appearance of D=

What I did was use the molar ratios using the given A. but shouldnt A be negative in the first place since it is on the left side? Or is it vice versa?

.086(2/2)=.086
.086(4/2)=.172
.086(3/2)= .129

why is this called help with atomic orbital when it obviously has nothing to do with them, and you are correct in your calculations and A shoulnd't be negative because it is rate of consumption not rate of apearence.
