Vulkanfiber - sulfuric acid process

I got interested into Vulkanfiber (vulcanised fibre) which is produces by etching celluloses with either conc. zincchloride or H2SO4 and pressing the resulting mush into forms.

I got specially interested int the more environmentally friendly H2SO4 process - but sadly I canĀ“t find much information on this topic (I have some on the ZnCl2 process though).

After what is told, the quality of the product relies on the process and the used organic fibre. My idea is to use hemp as starting material for a high-quality product (thats at least I hope to get from this idea).
The advantages would be obvious I guess.
