In the pipeline - YouTube videos!

If you have uploaded any YouTube videos that have anything to do with chemistry, post them here!

Burning lithium! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGTclGVWMyI

XYLENE vs METHANOL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk47G9DM5Jg

Combustion of trimethyl borate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_0GfkXgBGA

Trimethyl borate is pretty cool.
"Methanol is a smaller atom" It doesn't matter how good you are, there is always the possibility for a slip of the tongue.
I will check out more of yours when I get a moment.

And people on YouTube won't ever let you forget it! You wouldn't believe the number of rage comments I've gotten about when I said silicon was a metal by mistake.

My favorites:

I get a 404 for the first link. As for the second, I get "This channel has no videos."

What up with that?

There isn't any raw footage posted yet so the second link has no videos. As for the first link, try removing the extra period at the end of the url. Try this link instead http://www.youtube.com/radorlabs

Yup, that works.
Will watch all of your videos with much interest. Wish I had a beer with me :)

EDIT: well, that was quick. Nice reaction, but I wish the videos weren't of the silent kind (except the iodine clock reaction vid).

BTW, what do you pour into the Erlenmeyer flask after you put the EDTA into it? Is it just water?

EDIT2: hey, my 100th post!

While I do have a you tube channel it is more or less a place for video documentation then education. And plus it is really only basic stuff right now. Trying to get some money for some glassware that will help with more advance studies. stuff isn't cheap.

I just made you read this very pointless signature. How does it feel?

Great stuff - but I enjoyed most your video on copper (perhaps cupric oxide) catalized oxidation.

I uploaded a video to the Rador Labs Raw Footage channel. It can be found here. It's just a minute long clip of a steam distillation of cinnamon that I did a couple weekends ago. I wasn't originally planning on filming it, so the camera is very shaky. My future videos will hopefully be a lot more professional looking! (and I'll actually narrate them too)

Did you extract the oil with a solvent?

I did a steam distillation, and then afterwards I extracted the cinnamaldehyde from the distillate using some chloroform that I made. Now I have it in a vial on my desk which I waft a little bit of occasionally. The combination of cinnamaldehyde and chloroform is really quite great. (and yes, I did stabilize the chloroform with ethanol, so there's no phosgene here!)

Thumbed it up, to show my appreciation for the effort, and also because I really wanted to see steam distillation of some essential oils. Sadly, your video not only lacks commentary, but also more footage - show more of the set-up, for example. I really hope you filmed more than it's on that video...?

Anyhow, a thumb-up for your video, so you know I'm not a hater. But we in the peanut gallery want more!

To DrMario For the CrEDTA that was just water.

Forgive my ignorant question, but I have little experience with thermite: is that CUPRIC or CUPROUS oxide?

And the reducing agent was aluminium? Or magnesium?

I was responding to this question.
Also that was cupric oxide I believe. I doubt cuprous oxide would be that energentic

Right, the complexation of Cr(III) chloride with EDTA - so it was water.
Are you affiliated with Rador Labs?
